Dear Sir, I am interested in contaminated site assessments and wonder in which year the following report by Ferguson CC has been published: The contaminated land exposure assessment model CLEA: technical basis and algorithms, draft report submitted to Department of the Environment. Centre for Research into the Built Environment, The Nottingham Trent University; Nottingham, England. I would be grateful if you could provide me with this information Regards Gregor Malich |

From Paul Nathanail Dear Gregor, The report has not yet been published by the DOE - they are waiting until a whole series of technical guidance is completed and want to publish the whole lot in one fell swoop it seems. The new Engineering Geology Special Publication on Contaminated Land has a paper by Colin Ferguson and Judith Denner which is the latest available public domain information (there will be another update in the Consoil 98 proceedings in May). Regards Paul |

From Dr Hackenbush This TLA (three letter acronym) 'the DOE' was the Department formerly known as 'of the Environment', now performing under the name of 'the DETR' - Department of the Environment Transport and the Regions !). The Big Boss Man is John Prescott, who has had to dispense (as well as receive !) cold water, about how much land will be built on in the New Jerusalem that is our current 'Kewl Brittania'. It is still uncertain how much 'Brownfield' land will be built upon for planned new housing (or whether it will even be planned!)
